What Is Chiropractic Treatment?
by Broughton Grange & Guilsborough (Kettering) based Chiropractor Fiona MacRae
It is a common misconception that chiropractic focuses on the spine. This is not so. In McTimoney Chiropractic the body is treated as a whole. The skeleton is the major support structure that runs throughout the body and an imbalance in one area is often caused by a problem somewhere else. For example, there would be little point trying to alleviate a back problem if the pelvis is misaligned due to a change in posture resulting from by knee pain.
During a McTimoney Chiropractic treatment the skeletal structure of the whole body is assessed and treated appropriately. The treatment is very gentle. It involves adjusting the bones to improve skeletal alignment. When the skeleton is correctly aligned, the body is best placed to take its weight, so reducing the likelihood of strain, pain and injury. Correct skeletal alignment also increases mobility and assists the nervous system to work efficiently.
The majority of people come to me with back and neck problems but, because McTimoney Chiropractic is a whole-body technique, it can help with many other conditions.
My first concern is to find out what it wrong. Typically on a first visit I would take a full case history and carry out any necessary testing. We would then discuss your needs and establish a treatment plan. The treatment consists of quick, gentle and accurate adjustments.
You can be assured of complete confidentiality and that you will, at all times, be treated with respect.
